Eat less chickin

To Harper & Row Publishers & affiliates:

It used to be we didn't know everything about everyone, no net, no tweet, no fb. But now we do. I love the food at Chick-fil-a and am having a hard time not going there when I want to. I used to respect the CEO's decision to close on Sundays. The employees are polite and well turned-out. You can be a Christian if you want to, run the company on days you want to be open, and hire whomever you want.

However, when I have to learn that the CEO of this same company is using funds that I willingly spend at his stores to make donations to organizations that support hate, that I would not in a million years even consider supporting, I do have to act. Because now I know.  And even though I have no children who read Berenstain Bears, I am a bookseller and I can recommend different characters.  Because now I know that Harper Collins doesn't mind the CEO's desire to eradicate and criminalize and penalize people with different sexual orientations fromhis.

I understand that you are in business, there may be contracts involved, whatever --- but now YOU know who you are doing business with. And the Bears know. And we all know.  I have gay friends and gay family members and my feeling is ... it's hard enough not to be the same as everyone else without having religions, institutions, and corporations out gunning for you (figuratively, if not literally).

Please reconsider this bad business development. Because now you know.

Respectfully submitted,
R.

Update: Eeuww, more chikinshit.
